CASSUND OLIVIER
Cavafy
by Cassund Olivier
I should have super powers
For all I've learned and conjured
How many hours of experience
Is two years of rest and relaxation
Of coming undone and done again
A body bodies and fills books
With knowledge everyone already has
But treat as myth and forbidden language
Like snow is all verb and noun and adjective
My body is only body, body, and body
My head is a stick and bindle
My heart strapped tight on the truck bed
Is the whole of life not a journey towards Ithaka
A trek of survival and getting up again
And get up again, and get up again
And get up again and again and again.
