Contribute your work

Send us words for what we cannot see or have not seen or have refused to see, words for what happens between the words we speak out loud, words that trace the threads and cords and cables and chains that run invisibly through and between us.

Because we want this journal to be home not only to writing that fits into conventional literary categories, but also to all manner of misfit, genre-defying work, creative writing submissions are classified only by word count. (We also welcome submissions of visual art—read on for specs.) Your submission can be as short as you want it to be—there is no minimum. We love poetry, flash, microlit. We want stories that need more space too, and will read anything that comes in under 10,000 words.

Send your previously unpublished work to: tetheredliterary@gmail.com

Attach the creative writing or hybrid work you would like us to consider in a single .docx, .doc, or .pdf file.

Attach any visual artwork you would like us to consider in JPEG attachment(s) of under 10 MB.

Include the total word count of your submission in the subject line of your email, as well as the title(s) of your piece(s).

You’re welcome to name or describe the genre(s) of your submission in your cover letter in any terms you like, or to leave it open.

We know our subjective tastes reflect our own experiences in ways that can be difficult to see and account for, so we invite you to share anything that might help us to consciously cultivate a diversity of voices. You’re welcome to tell us anything you think we should know about you, your work, your positionality, your subject matter, or how any/all of these things relate.

Please keep additional statements outside of your writing submission to 150 words.

We accept and encourage simultaneous submissions. Just send us an email right away to withdraw any piece(s) that have been accepted elsewhere.

Please don’t self-reject.
