spin your webs strong, your stories thick. send your words out from their corners
into the world and watch: they pull us along.

PEICHAO MI
Wise God
Spiraling in situ I left the rooms
wood cloth metal plastic and aphids
their eyes and feet and antennas
their body beneath the skin: light green
Spinning universe buzzing my brain.
Blessed are we who remember
that what we now know they once never longed for.
Some day maybe this year
Wise God tried to fill me with herself, like green, inner,
deeper inner than neurons
This close to God this close to aphids:
walking through 280-million years
and digesting the sunlight. Its vulnerable body,
almost eternity from inside. My second life.
PEICHAO MI is a forty-one-year-old poet from China. She is a PhD student majoring in engineering. This is the first time she has ever published her poetry.
